On Australia Day 2004, Jonas was asked to host the first 'Great Aussie Kid's Joke-Off' Competition at Fox Studios, Moore Park. "I was on stage out in the showring getting the kids laughing and coming gradually closer to the stage, but I couldn't get enough kids on stage telling jokes" Jonas says. "Then the co-organizer whispered from behind: 'SHOWBAGS! TELL THEM ABOUT THE SHOWBAGS!" Jonas recalls how he advised the shyest kids that a Fox Studios Kid's Showbag is FREE for every little boy or girl under the age of 12 who tells a joke on stage. "Suddenly, like an emergency had broken out, queues of kids had formed to both sides of the stage. An hour later, it was declared a huge success by all involved!" More recently, in 2005, Jonas did it again.This time as 'Captain Australia'. "There were 150 prizes, and I heard 140 jokes- There were a few jokes about 'a chicken crossing the road' that got repeated!"
